Pedal cone query

Depending on the pedal some have a washer with a little nose between cone and outer nut. Obviously the spindle has to be keyed, together with the washer this prevents turning the cone when tightening. You still have to dial in a little more play before tightening the outer nut to end up with the correct play (nearly none).
If yours don´t have these: I´ve more or less successfully jammed a flat bladed screwdriver in the gap between cone and pedal body. More or less because it´s a bit fiddly.
