Just collected this matching pair of M300’s (18”/20”) from a nice couple around 1/2hr away from me. Imported from the USA when they moved here, but now needing some love. :)

Paintwork on both is actually in pretty good order, at first glance anyway - a good wash should reveal more. Nice burgundy colour, I’ll need to do a bit of research to see if I can work out what year they are.
I paid £35 each so can’t complain!
Looking forward to getting these back to decent condition.

Got both stripped down and cleaned up, serviced the headsets and made a start putting the big ‘un back together:

Paint on this one is the best so just cleaning and re-assembling with a few fresh bits I’ve got lying around.

Update time. The 20” one came together really well and despite the basement level componentry man does it ride nicely.

So that one went on eBay and sold for basically what the two bikes owe me (other than cables etc everything came from the spares box).
Happy days.
I actually got a 90’s ladies Diamondback as a job lot when I bought a Claud Butler Cape Wrath last weekend, just came as part of the deal. So an ideal donor bike to do a similar thing with the 18” frame, which cleaned up not too bad too.

Wheels, tyres, brakes, sti units, saddle, pedals all robbed from the Diamondback. Various other parts from the never ending stash of bike parts I have accumulated over the years(!) and bingo - she’s a runner..

And same thing really, low end kit but it does a really respectable job for the riding I do. I can’t complain, something like this is a really nice addition to the fleet - it does a decent job on the local lanes and I don’t have to be precious with it in the least. And it’s still a nice thing with a bit of character - it still has the California bike licence stickers on the seat tube.
