I think the Rockhopper is later than 88, maybe 89 or 90, the fat seat stays and the band around the seat tube for the seat post clamp don't look right for an 88. Nice though, I like the look of the steel Specialized frames from around this era.

Hi Xerves, I must admit this is my first Specialized and I am certainly not an expert. It was mainly an assumption on my part as regards year because there is an 88 stated on the underside of the BB.

@Chris620gsi would you mind sharing the frame number of your Malt? It may help others in the future identify their frames where the logos etc have been removed. Can I spy Kinesis on the removable dropout?

Hi Sam, yes ofcourse and yes you are correct. It was an early frameset, '90 or '91 IIRC. Would I be OK to post the details/pic on a reply to this and someone move it to where it would better reside on the website?
