I think they came out the year after my 88 red Courier (B52) I can remember all the different MF and other neon and crackle patterns hung on the wall in my local bike shop. About £45 a pair then IIRC? And you'd have to pay the man to remove your freewheel too. I fancied one for the cool factor but never bought one. Made from quite brittle plastic so by the time I'd saved up for one the local woods were covered in fragments of them everywhere so I realised they weren't much cop off road.

I had one on my raleigh mini-mustang when I was about 8. My dad put a big yellow batman sticker on it, and later I adorned it with max power stickers. Memories.

I had an all black one on my Tufftrax. Don’t know why I wanted it. Pointless , heavy, noisy and awkward. I think I took it off after a few weeks.

Well news to me. Ive only seen MF in paw print. Learn a new fact every day. But in my defence, i think it was because the big pa print was the most well known.

My mate had an Apollo circa 1989 he fitted a disc cover to, painted it fluoro yellow and stuck road studs all over it like these!
