Modern cross gearing question

shows i have been out of the trade for a while then, what a pain! :roll:

that said i'm on campag for road and cross otherwise i would have quickly played around with some bits to find out what would and wouldn't work

You need a 9-speed MTB rear mech, a 10-speed MTB cassette, and a 10-speed chain.

Or you could use a shimano 10 speed long cage road rear mech too if you can get one.

You can also use a 7 or 8 speed shimano mtb mech too. I've successfully used a deore (this was deore before it had the lx/dx/xt suffixes) rear mech with modern ultegra 10 speed shifters & cassette.
