Kona 1994 lavadome lockdown build

Hello all,

Newish here so be nice. I am doing a build on a 1994 kona lavadome. Some of you may have seen my wanted adds :). Anyway almost at the stage where am going to put it all together.
By any means it not a minter, but this one is going to be used. I may look into re painting the frame in the future as it does have a few battle scars.
The most hardist part has been to find the p2 forks. With being a 20" frame it has a longer head tube, so finding a set of p2's with the correct steerer is impossible. So I have picked up some threadless p2. As you can see in the photo they have a high lower race on them. Something to do with fitting to suspension set up frames. Any how with them being 40cm from alxe to crown I am going to lower the lower race to make them not so odd looking. Also try and paint them the bronze colour they would of been for that year, from what I under stand.

I'll post some more pictures up as and when. Thanks.

Re:

looking good, we've just acquired a Hahanna at the other end of the size scale, I didn't even spend any time looking for some P2s as hens teeth etc. Fortunately someone on here came up with a "Giant" fork alternative that's worked out ok.

Re:

Yeah I thought about looking for correct forks but think I have as much chance of winning the lotto. Fingers crossed I get these ones sorted.

Looks great, my mate had a 1994 Lavadome when we were kids.
He fitted Flite, Magura rim brakes and also he fitted Grip shift gears.

Re:

Looks pretty tidy. Nice out of the box thinking on the forks. Looking forward to the rest of your build

Re:

So forks have been modified now so should look a bit less strange. Was a bit of a fiddle not gonna lie. And yes I've not got the lovely tig weld pattern but its functional.
Colour is is close to what I can get it from looking at pictures and that, have som decals on the way so should look OK in the end.

Next is to start the build just been waiting on paint to harden up.
