Gripshifter Gear Cables

Chaps - a bit of a noob question , I was wondering if I needed specific gear cables for Grip shifters? (Not stripped them down yet) or can I use any cable at all?

use qulity cables as cheapies seem to wear quicker with gripshift

ain't that the truth! retro ones, you have to disassemble. modern ones are a right pain in the arse to try and thread around the bend! :evil:

not me, i love them. have them on all my bikes aside from the blizzard, and now the 92 stratos, as i'm trying to leave it stock as possible.

Well I have no choice as yet as they came with the bike and work a treat! So no need to replace. Aiming to get the bike as stock as poss before I tinker. Unfortunately the tattiest part of the bike appears to be the frame. Majority of the components and hubs are spot on!

for a smoother shift with the old ones in particular you could consider lined cables, and or some kind of roller on the rear mech.
