Just back from watching a screening of The Flying Scotsman at the fab Belmont Picturehouse. Great film (with some artistic licence) but the best bit was an intro then a Q&A session afterwards with the man himself. Funny, heartfelt and inspirational.

He's hoping to try for the hour record in Manchester later this year (no specific date yet). Would be an awesome thing to watch for anyone in the area.

Does anyone know what this mech is ?

No, but I should have asked him at last night's screening - would have made a change from all the questions like "Are you still bitter with the UCI?" or "Do you still get depressed". :)

The answers to those two, incidentally, were no, because it led him from the tucked in arms to the 'Superman' position, which was faster anyway, and yes, along with a surprising number of other top sportsmen, apparently.

I wanted to ask some other questions about the making of the film, like where they got all the foam helmets and skinwall tyres to replicate the 90s club racing scenes, but thought that would be too nerdy...
