Dirt Disciple
Hii all,

I'm planning to get a fat chance ti that was offered to me..
here attached some of the picts of the bike..
the serial number TF M 1060
all the decals are pealed off except FAT on Head tube and Chris Chance on left chainstay
i have a few concern about the bike which are,
1. is it a Fat Ti bike? cause looks it is for me (i might be wrong lol..)
2. if it is, what year the bike was produced?
3. and for the top tube cable routes, there are 2 on the right side and 1 on the left side, is it possible?if looked online all of them are have 3 cable routes on the right side.
4. there is no gusset joint between down tube and bb shell, is it common? all that i found online they all have a gusset joint...
hope you guys dont mind to help me figure these out..

Regards
Andrew

I don't think I have ever seen that type of seat stays on a titanium Fat Chance. It doesn't seem right. I haven't seen cable routing like that on them either. It looks like a quality frame. For the right price it's probably a good project.

Lovely frame you have there...
1. It is absolutely a Fat Chance Ti!
2. Looks like a '96/97, though the serial number would suggest it was made in '96. TF M 1060 - Ti Fat Medium 10th frame built in 96
3. The cable routing changed along with the seat stay design (previous years had a monostay).
4. Only the first year production ('93) had the external gussets welded on the lower downtube/forward chainstays.

I dont think the number part of NY frame numbers mean anything other than a build number that carried through year to year.
There is an EXCEL spreadsheet (somewhere in this thread https://fatcogs.com/threads/fat-city-cycles-frame-registry.56/ ) with loads of frame numbers on the sister site FatCogs that should give some idea of the year.

I would go along with it being a 1995/6

It was hanging around on ebay for ages https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175567928546

Yea I’d have to agree and say 95-96. It still as the cantilever hanger on the seat stays meaning a pre 97 model. Cool frame and don’t let the lack of a wishbone rear end put you off! This model was built to be a less flexy rider.

Hii All,
Thanks to you all and much appreciations to all of you guys that helped me to id this frame, all noted and put into consideration..

i would have to agree to Hotwheels, retrobate, and slimjoe, it might be a 96 fat ti, since it has a rear canti bridge hanger on it and still has a aqua colour decal like 96 and older, while 97 has a red decals on it if i looked on the 97 catalog..
regards
