the bottom is heavily ovalised (as is my 93 ciondercone, but to a lesser degree) but older mech clamps have a degree of compliance and if you use a top swing so the mech is clmaped well above the BB the ovalising is less there so it seems to fit - mine is shimmed as well and I think this helps too
although i've still not got it cabled up and working yet.... so could be totally wrong - P20 here (who funnily enough has a P20) reccomended an etype to me but I came across my curent one as part of a job lot of 953 XTR and it seems okay so far!
