Decent performing mid-late 90s sus fork

I think you're on the right track with Marzocchi
, a switch to V-brakes would make your search far easier, although if you really want to keep cantis then you'll have more luck finding a Marzocchi hanger than a Judy damping cartridge I reckon.
Later Pace forks were decent RC36/ RC38, but again by that time there was no provision for a canti hanger, and tbh they weren't as bombproof as the Marzocchis.
You really need an early/mid-90's fork if you want to stick with canti brakes.

They are arches/bridges for rc36s that either have canti hangers or are/could be drilled for fitment of a rocker.

I think I’ll see how these rc35s I’ve bought from eBay are and if they don’t float my boat I’ll go v brake and marz.

The RC35's are short travel, like 45-60mm.
Not exactly ideal for a hardcore trail bike.

What about a rigid fork and a 2.4 tire?
About the same travel you think?

I like the look of the suspension fork but I did consider a rigid when I was building it so it's definitely something I'd consider.

I have a DMR Switchblade with a short steerer but I can fix that easily enough, thing is it probably weighs more than the bloody Judy!
