I was in a lbs recently that I havent visited in some time.They simply have given up on sales of any sort and are more or less a repair centre.Whilst I was there he turned away a customer looking for a kiddie bike.He said to me pragmatically and not with a trace of bitterness that the lbs niche is in repairs.He simply doesnt have the space to stock items that have a minuscule mark up and was tired of the usual "CRC do it for £x".He`s doing a roaring trade in repairs.

Can we have a cluttered shop full of boxes of junk, please? I want a friendly grandad type bloke behind the counter who knows everything. I'll gladly pay a price premium over the internet if it keeps that guy around.

my lbs knows im into retro stuff and if he ever gets anything semi decent bike/parts wise he normally gives me a shout. Also
helps me out with stuck post's/bb's one of the good guys regards fixing rather than just replacing.
