Boss mounts on the fork lowers are a weird thing, guess they were intended for mud guard mounts?
Great piece of UK history, does anyone know it's race pedigree?

Klein didn't make a cross bike at the time. Do the answer was to re-purpose its hybrid model for Caroline Alexander - hence the Araldited bosses and ignored rack mounts.

she wasn't a short legged lady, what size is the frame?

It's a pretty rangey bike. I don't have it to hand, but I remember it being about a 23in top tube (580mm) plus a 10-12cm stem...
