Carlton Super Course Brake Upgrade

Does anyone know what modern , non-centre pull brakes would fit a Carlton Super Course?

Have you tried new modern pads some of them deliver quite an improvement or is there another reason for changing?

I think they came with weinmann centrpulls. These work well. Like the man above says, modern blocks and new cables should do the trick

Tektro dual pivot brakes are generally regarded as good and affordable side-pull brakes. They come in different sizes, so check which reach you need.

Having said that, I too would prefer the Weinmann brakes. Koolstop replacement pads are not exactly cheap, but worth it.

I like my Weinmanns, and always make sure I don't run out of stock ...

As mentioned above - tektro dual pivots nutted type rather than recessed. You'll need to measure the brake drop to see which version to buy

R559s have given very good service on my Witcomb.

Using dual pivots don't you need more modern brake levers that pull more cable?

Certainly that's true on later Shimano (NSSLR v SLR).

R559 work fine with Campag, which to my knowledge haven't fiddled with cable pulls.
