Bromwich

Aussie Red

Retro Newbie
Good evening chaps, first time posting.
Have come across what appears to be a Bromwich, wondering if the lads that know the build maybe able to varify this..
Looks to have a shimano shifter..

Sugino Maxy cranks, center-pull brakes all point to it being a 1970's bike. Not sure what tubing is being used although a 27 or 27.2 seatpost would point to reynolds tubing, but probably at least some sort of high tensile tubing used. Quite a nice bike though.

Here is a little info about the brand... https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/bromwich-cycles.126032/post-2901628
Thank you for the reply Kermit, they obviously weren’t a mass produced bike as in numbers per year but were around for 25-30 yrs? I have never seen one down here in villans land so hence trying to find out any info.. Wether it was a personal import is unknown, thought being a Brit bike there may have been more info.. Thank you once again..

No worries, as you say they were not produced in great numbers, I imagine as you say someone exported it probably at some cost. Would be worth getting cleaning and tidying up and stick a nice leather saddle on, keep the paint work crusty but use a rust treatment on the frame.

I've no clue about the bike but I think it definitely looks worthy of a bit of TLC. You got any plans for it there Aussie Red?

That will be a tidy little rider with some TLC. Good thing is at this period things were still built to last.

Fork crown suggests quality for me, rear drop-outs less so, lugs are nice and looks well made overall.

Unfortunately I don’t have a pic of it.. I do have a spare B17 which might end up on it..
