Bottom bracket interchangeability

I have a Shimano external BB that's got worn bearings in it

If you want to see if the cups or bearings will work I can send you it karma as I'm interested to see if it will work, don't think it will but you never know till you try

what bb is it? as some of the bbs are varying widths as you know
so obviously looking for wider but that said i wouldve thought all the bearings/cups would be same outer diameter at least?

Just a bog standard Shimano external BB, possibly Deore/LX level kit.

All Shimano external MTB BB's are interchangeable and as far as I know the same size to accommodate this feature

You could have larger diameter cups to accommodate larger bearings with the same diameter axle...
