It's not always true that women need a shorter top tube relative to their height although many do - it depends on the hip to knee measurement - if a woman has a long hip to knee measurement she may find a man's bike a better fit.

Interesting, thank you. The bike has a 17" frame, she is 5'7" with loooooooonnnnggg legs; infact they are the same length as mine and I am 6'. I am going down the short high rise stem route at the moment, don't really want to change the bike too much as it is all original and in pristine condition.

If Mrs Reki is 5" shorter than you but with the same length legs, she must be 5" shorter in the upper body. Either that or you're a giraffe.

If her upper body is that much shorter, you would think she needs a much shorter top tube than you do if she's going to get comfy. All the WSD bikes have short top tubes. And thin grips, don't forget thin grips.
