can you see the difference from the outer part of the axle inwards towards a groove the gap is larger so would you say because of that that the right side is drive,not just because the writing on the axle and expect it to be that way.
 
The right hand side looks slightly longer in the picture hence the reason I think it should be the drive side

Either way, the longer section will be the drive side.

NB This table also notes 112mm for ISO shells, so if it is 115mm then this won't solve your problem: you have the wrong BB for your cranks..
The shell is italian so idealy need 113mm but i would imagine this would bring the chainring in slightly thus the chain being at more of an angle when on smaller rings.I did put the 113 on but was way to close to the chain stays.what can be an issue with a axle that's to long apart from the front mech possibly not changing correctly?
