I often wonder just how much of this rubbish our foreign members understand or 'get'?

I have never seen a rusty starfish.

I guess it looks like a rusty bullet hole.

When I worked on a prawn boat in the highlands (langoustine) if we got one of the creels out the water and it had a starfish in it we would rip it in half and throw the two bits back in the water. The reason being that if there was a starfish in a creel then a langoustine wouldn't go in.

EDIT. Just read that back and realised most of the people on here might not know what a creel is in this context. It's like a lobster pot.

Many species of starfish have great potential to regenerate. Some can regenerate an entire new body out of one 'leg'. This would mean if you rip them in two, chances are you end up with two starfish instead of one.
