A bit of a project - 30 year old Cannondale 46er

Re:

yeah it was the specialized stem.

I have not checked the bay, Adrian, but I'm sure there might be something similar and a lot cheaper on there :)

I hope you are joking about the Overbury's !!!!!

It's still bare metal at the moment. It's kept wrapped up in the warm and dry but everywhere I've touched it with my greasy mitts is starting to go a bit rusty.

I have some Altrans that I'll need to get on it before it goes for painting!!

It's amazing what greasy hand prints can do !

I saw that stem as well, but then I saw the price! I'm off to a cycle jumble this month I'll have a look out for a stem !

Re:

Scored the correct saddle for the bike, a Brooks Europex, for £3.57 :) Can't imagine why I was the only bidder

Cheers Roy, not sure how comfortable it will be though :?

Re:

Is that really really the correct saddle?! It looks like something off an excercise bike!

Seriously though, I'm watching this thread with interest. It amazes me why people aren't as enthusiastic about old Cannondales as other (mention no names) USA makes. Personally, I love the high BB, as it suits my type of riding, loads of obstacles, almost like trials riding.

If an even earlier example came up, I would seriously consider it.

EDIT: Did I say earlier? Was there anything before 1984?

Hi, would the saddle be an avocet touring one? My more modern 26/26 one has this. It's also suntour xc. Farmer John rear tyre- mombat has them

Re:

I know Andrew, it is a bit of a sofa. A wide, vinyl covered sofa

I love the old 'dales too. This was their first mountain bike offering so they don't come much older :D
