Why go w/ xt hubs? These are always heavy ime. Just go w/ DT, King, Hope or any of the sexy
aftermarket gems out there.

i would guess with suspension forks it will be around 22-23lb!? just a guess as dont know how light the frame is.

looking forward to pics when its built

Re:

I’d be happy with 22 as that’s 10kg. Bit heavy compared to a modern XC bike but so much more personality

Are XTR heavy?
xtr is lighter than xt but there are much better options out there. I would rather have high end wheels and a an lx build on a steel frame than mediocre wheels on titanium and xtr.

Re:

Maybe I wasn’t too clear. The current XT on 517 are what I currently have. But I’m on lookout for some XTR on ceramic 517 once a pair comes up

However I’m up for recommendations for some wheels that are right for the build. If you see any let me know

I read on some shimao site years ago something about how the top 3 shimano groupsets were best described
LX was the heaviest, but the most robust. XT was not as robust as LX but was lighter.
XTR was lighter than XT but as robust.

Kings/ Hope/ White industries/ DT laced to 517. Much better than xtr hubs. Mavic Crossmax is awesome as well as a stiff, fast wheelset.

Re:

I’ve had many sets of Hope (still have several bikes with them now ) and yes they are great in terms of durability but aren’t they heavy compared to XTR?

Not had great experiences with DT and kings are too bling to for the build.
