Have you changed to thumbies and levers? I spy two brackets on either side of your handlebars...

Well spotted! Yeah, couldn't find a replacement rh XT shifter so Deore DX thumbies and levers it is.. I prefer being able to trim the front mech anyway..

It rides nicely, though i feel bad for admitting that i missed the risers from the Giant! Think i may stick bar ends on too..

I also love the fact that you've reminded me about the devil's punchbowl. I have somehow forgotten about all the daytrips there as a child. Must be a buried 25 year old memory you've just dug out of my head! I'm going there again. Next site...maps...

May I ask if that is a 19" how tall are you?
It's just that I am new to mtb and looking at 17.5" to 19" at the moment.
