Sold 1990 GT Team Avalanche Retro MTB Fork Tange prestige Steel Stripped Back To check condition and reveal Blue Widow paint fully

Bike Creatively

Old School Hero
A really rare set of forks that I was amazed to find on a resprayed retro GT bike I bought. The whole bike had been painted red (badly) by a previous owner but as the paint was flaking off, and I could see patches of the iconic “blue widow” GT paint scheme underneath, I decided to use a stiff brush to remove all of this newer paint, as I was advised to check the condition properly by group members, and the forks turned out to be Tange Prestige forks from a 1990 Team Avalanche! 😮
As these forks are incredibly rare but will obviously need repainting I am asking £42 plus £8 postage (parcelforce), which I think is fair considering it’d be nigh on impossible to find another set of these.
The dropouts are stamped Tange and the threaded steerer, which measures 13.5cm, is stamped Tange 90C.
Please be aware that they’re not perfect, that being said they feel solid and undamaged still so hopefully ok for someone’s retro GT project.
Also on eBay so could sell anytime:

Collection possible from Sheffield S17 (near Totley Library) or Chesterfield S41 if arranged in advance.

Thanks for your interest and should you have any questions please fire away!

I have one of those team avalanche bike.
Such a nice paint design.
What did the frame turn out to be
Was it an avalanche or something different

I think the frame is actually a 92 Richter 8.0 as there’s black under the red respray and it has the screws on the rear dropouts 😊 I’ve not stripped the paint yet but hoping to get confirmation using the serial number once I have revealed it

If you are happy to share the number once you uncover it, that would be appreciated:

That will be able to confirm the year and model.

Brilliant!! Thanks for getting in touch and yes I’ll definitely send it over! This also gives me a reason to pull my finger out and get that paint off so cheers for that bit of motivation 😉

That's a shame. Richter 8.0 from 1992 seems pretty likely. If you have photos of the dropouts and where the seat tube meets the bottom bracket (preferably both side-on and front-on) then that could help confirm.
