1989 Saracen Trekker.

I bought the bike last autumn. It is stunning and rides really well. The low-end groupset works well and I’ve never had an issue on the rides it’s been on.

My only criticism of the bike is the weight - it’s about 32lb with pedals which is quite heavy. My bear valley, in comparison is about 27lb and it’s not built to save weight. I reckon the chainset weighs a lot and with doeble U-brakes and a spring saddle it’s never gonna be skinny. Lovely bike though, but I chose the Marin for Mountain Mayhem.

Great choice - it's beautiful! Please let me know if you are ever thinking of parting with it.

I bought one exactly like it in 1989. Rode it around the world until it was stolen a few years later. Decided a few weeks ago that I'd try to find a replacement. You're living my dream ;)

Re:

Don't give up b00per as there seem to be plenty of 89 Trekkers about. I'd go as far to say that it's the most common 89 after the Tufftrax. I had a black one at the same time as this and I'd bet there's been at least half a dozen for sale since.
