I've actually got a 1989 mountain LX drivetrain and some DX brakes which will be going on. Eventually I'll replace with period XT I think.

Love Mountain LX, good solid choice so you can enjoy what we should be doing with all our bikes, which is ride them!!!

Me too, patina is perfection in my old eyes. But each to their own and I am a sucker for a bright orange paint job!

Meant to ask. What stem is that? Unusual to see such a long extension on the quill and with removable handlebar clamp (double pinch bolt)

I'd be guessing it's a Velo Orange stem for 31.8mm bars.

Hey! looking really nice already! I bet the contrast with the black fork will show more when the black decals are applied. I have seen a similar one here before in this color combo and it's just ace in my view.
