Nice work on the parts, they look great.

The Cimarron has always been a personal favorite, I think it's the fillet brazing and the tapered tubing where it meets the head tube. Enjoy!

Thanks, I will enjoy the build.

Bassboat Green respray?

No it's going to keep the patina, although it may get a clear coat.

Are you missing a Deerhead front mech?

I'm not sure yet mate, I have a bag of bits that's missing in garage 2, hardly a surprise as it's a bloody mess!

Ok, there's a spare here if needed

Lovely stuff I'll let you know.

Thanks.

Re:

Parts have made it to the build shelf so something must be in the offing...

The saddle is soaking in a bucket of water as it needs reshaping, god only knows if it'll look like a saddle when I've finished! Now I have to decide whether to clear coat the frame or not and find some PC wheels and tyres.

I'm wondering that myself! :? Is this a technique you have heard of elsewhere?

Re:

Yes it's a very old technique for reshaping old leather saddles.

Soak them for 24hrs in water then they have to be strapped into the shape needed with straps or something of the like. The most important thing is to let the leather dry slowly as it will crack otherwise.

That's the plan...

Never done it before, so should be fun!

I use soapy water, it brought back to life two Wrights saddles that were crusty dry.

Re:

Thanks for that...What kind of soap?

How did you bind them or did you pack them out with something?

Re:

So after soaking the saddle in warm water and liquid clothes wash for around 15 minutes all kinds of filth came out, the saddle was supple enough to form into a better saddle shape.

It has now been packed with paper towels to keep the form and I've lagged it with dubbin and it's now slowly drying in the front room... job done, I hope.
