Araya Muddy Fox MF26-I SPR

Very excited that this arrived before I leave for work today!
Lots to do, will be rebuilding over the winter. The paint although a bit rough in places will be staying. Saddle and seatpost already have a replacement on their way.

I was going to try and steel a bid on that,but too far south,proper mountainbike.Is it filet brazed?,very original,even down to the tyres,bargain.Tomaselli levers as well,ive been looking for them for ages.

It has been hanging around eBay for a while, most of that priced beyond my reach! It’s a birthday treat to myself and the seller was very helpful in offering to post to me. It is fillet brazed, someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure I’ve read it’s TIG fillet brazed which to my understanding is different for example to the fillet brazing on my Mercian.

Tyres I think are IRC Racer which is indeed original spec the walls are a grey/green colour, rear is ok front the canvas is fraying in areas so I guess not salvageable.

You can rest easy on the levers, under the hoods are what I think are first generation Deore XT.

It is very original and in remarkable condition considering its a 1983/1984 model based on the spec. The photos of the same bike appear in both the 1983-1985 catalogue as well as the 1988 albeit with different mechs. This one has a Suntour Le Tech front and an Alivio rear which I guess should also be Le Tech.

Rain stopped play in the garden today so had a great day in the garage fettling this bike back together.
I’m not a great photographer or writer of build threads. I’ve tried to keep as close to original spec of this bike as possible. The paint is a bit rough in places with scratches on some of the decals. I’ll leave it as is for now though. The quality of the this bike is incredible with top of the line parts used by Araya. This model was top of the Araya range and I think is a 1983/1984 model. The Suntour Le Tech range was only produced I think in 1982/1983. The rear mech which had been changed to Alivio was the hardest part to source and for a short while I had resigned myself to not finding one and had fitted a 3 pulley Lepree which while interesting just wasn’t right. Then as is always the case three Le Techs turned up within a week or so of each other.
