Specialized Shark Fin re-manufacture ?

i don't have the money available to me to even consider it, which is why i'd be happy for mine to be used as a template (so long as i get it back)

also it must be worth a try getting in contact with the UK spec distributer, boxes of NOS stuff turns up all the time. no reason this would be any different.

now that's just depressing.

i like the idea of getting a batch made. of course, the difficult part is getting the interest plus financial support/commitment.....

I've been looking into this heavily the past month.
so far i've encountered a company that can do it, but it'll cost in the region of £400 smackers (thats just to get the first one made - includes tooling/CAD drawing and first shot)

i have recently discovered an alternative which i will be trying out - probably at the end of this month - see here:

it uses the A2Z adapter and uses a threaded rod with 2 rose joints plus some bolts either end to help distribute the force up to the brake boss stud much in the same way as the Braketherapy strut. i've checked out the cost of all the parts that look to be needed and it comes in at around £40.
not sure how reliable it is, but it looks to make sense, as i've heard about the A2Z adapter playing up under high braking loads. this looks to possibly strengthen it somewhat. much prefer this route to welding or just having an adapter bolted to the dropouts only.

will update when i get this version sorted and fitted.
also might be worth mentioning that i have got in touch with Broady, but not sure of his capabilities in replicating the Sharkfin. Will know this week hopefully.

if anyone else has any ideas (sensible ones) i'd like to hear them, as i've got a real bee in my bonnet about this now

As an FSR owner i wish i had the time to help in this, but between trying to get my E30 restored, helping look after our 2 month old, renovate the house and do a few hours at work, i'd struggle :roll:

Cad/cam is my job, no fancy 3D stuff, we work in sheet steel, but i can produce an engineering drawing, and have contacts with a machine shop (pricey tho!)

I know a guy with a CNC who currently manufactures after market motorbike parts, but wants to get into making bike parts. Not sure if this helps, but spreading the info.

Hope used to do something similar.

i have one, but it needs a hope hub or possibly standard axle cut to fit

mines is the universal type that bolts to the drop out
