We placed a substantial wager on Manchester United to win the Premiership today. Not for any realistic prospect of gain, but because it makes everything a little more interesting.

My brother laid some down on Liverpool.

Well we are a game away from being top three. Things can only get better, and it is early days. I started betting on Alex Ferguson a long time ago, and he rarely let me down.
