Zaskar LE 1994 Pace RC 35

I have been looking for another Zaskar for ages - one to replace the one I built up and raced back in the mid 1990's.

Anyway, I came across one on eBay a couple of weeks ago, a bit tatty but with the correct forks and headset that I wanted....

It was in Malvern but I won the auction and picked up on the way back from a holiday in Cornwall!

So this is what I bought, complete with missing seat, seat stem and pedals:

Re:

Anyway, I picked the bike up and fell in love - a proper, honest GT Zaskar with the right forks, headset, rear mech and decent bars and stem too, although everything else was scrap...

Re:

The original plan was to make a replica of my old race bike, complete with Hope Titanium hubs, gold Mavic 217 rims, snowflake front wheel and Middleburn RS3 Cranks... but I soon realised that if that was the plan, it was going to take forever as most of these parts are like rocking horse poo...

These are few pictures of the original...

Re:

I soon realised that the most economical way to complete this project was to buy a 'parts bike'.

So, I had a quick scan of eBay and came across a mint Orange P7 complete with gold Mavic rims and XT V Brakes - BOUGHT!

Next on the shopping list was a Middleurn RS3 chainset... And I was lucky enough to stumble across this:

The frame was stripped, sanded, polished and the new decals (thanks Gil) applied:

The rebuild was a pleasure - using a combination of new and refurbished parts...
