Spoke Prep/freeze

I use linseed oil, cannot remember where I read to do that may have been sheldon brown... not sure if it was only recommended for stainless spokes with brass nipples or was ok with alloy nipples. I guess I will find out as I have alloy nipples...

Roger Musson wheel building states he uses standard motor oil.

I have gone for loctite 222

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Don't use anything that will lock the thread. How will you true the wheel if it needs adjusting?

Boiled Linseed Oil is ideal as a spoke lube. It lubricates the thread to help in the build then it sets to lock the thread but can easily be undone.
