I posted for the first time a couple of weeks ago saying I'd just got my first couple of projects. I had wanted to start before but life being life I couldn't. Anyway today I had a couple of hours spare so started to strip the 'mercier' down.
Now as I had said before I picked up this bike from a French troc, I know relatively nothing about the parts, but I am starting to read up. The plan for this bike is a general good clean up of all parts, a polish of all the chrome, and then rebuild for the wife to use (it's going to need new tubes and tyres but that's about all I am looking to replace, well until I break something)
So attached are a couple of pics, I'm now just trying to identify the components
The front and rear brakes are marked - mafac racer
Both the front and rear derailleurs are simplex from looking trough velobase I think the fronts are these http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx? ... 3&AbsPos=8
The wheels have 'lyotard' stamped on them.
So next step, clean and polish I will get soe pics of the components up as they get cleaned.
