Chainguards for 1x7s to stop the chain coming off??...

Hi
I have been riding my commuter as a 1x7 for the last six months and despite using a 11-20 or something cassette and making the chain as tight as possible, the chain still falls off. Always to the outside.
I would like to bolt on a chain guard to the outer ring position, but cannot find any that would work for a 44t chain ring which I have on the middle position (4bolt, 104pcd((Ithink - deore)).
I could use a front derailleur type chain guide, but would prefer the visual simplicity of a chain guard.
Anybody got any tips as to where I could find one... There is one on ebay at the moment, but that can't be the only one on earth, can it?

Thanks
Sam

kaiser you simply must get the truvative that looks like a china plate

ive considered getting one just to have

an old mrp system 1 will be good for a 44t . you are using a proper toothed ring ? its possible for the chain to ride up the ramps and pins if it has those on it

the budget option would be buying some 3mm perspex for £4 and cutting it yourself . itl be clear too so wont look like a massive slab of alloy like the mrp will

i remember years ago a dh chain device was just 2 very large discs that went either side of the chainring . the theory being that the chain coud still jump off the teeth but it wouldnt jup so high as to come out of the plates

oh and just remembered a bmx company called kink did a very thick and tough bash ring that fits 44t 110 bcd . quite old now though and wasnt very popular so quite rare ( yep i had 2 and gave them away  )

True, I am not using a proper unramped ring. Guess I should try that also.
And CRC don't have the magic combo of 4 bolt and 44t, nearest is the ethirteen 42t. I guess a 42t sized one would work also... you think?

if the chain keeps falling off to the outside and you have the chainring in the middle, then wouldnt having the c/ring on the outside solve the problem

Can but try :? :D

You could also put on an old outer with the teeth ground off, makes for an intregral chain guard

ive noticed old mrps dont fetch too high ££ on ebay . useless for me though

deffo get a tall toothed unramped ring , again not a lot of money on the bay ( dont bother with used )

when i used to ride to work i noticed after a while it was dropping the chain in the same place on the pedal stroke , after having a look at the teeth it was always climbing off the short tooth that aids shifting when i was putting the power down with my right foot forward . rotating the ring around helped
