nitromors - suspension forks, can i??

got some old sids painted up in blue dekerf colours that i want to strip and paint black...

will nitromors be ok to use on the magnesium or am i best off just sanding them back with wet and dry?
 
nice one :) thats the next job after the RTS restoration is finished then!

did you repaint them and if so what primer did you use? :)
 
well it only reacts with the chemicals in the paint so as long as you mask off the stantions, I cant remember having any probs with reacting to metals.

for painting, normal aluminium primer seemed to do the job.

I sprayed mine SID blue and let them dry on a warm radiator
 
was perfectly fine when i stripped the paint off my RTS rear triangle! :)

have heard it can 'soak' into the permeable alloy and make respraying a pain in the bum though! good job im polishing mine ;)

EDIT: aluminium primer it is then :D
