I got these Manitou Xverts, and they wobble when i brake. im guessing its the bushes, but they look to be pretty permanent inside the legs.
anyone removed these before? or anyone know how i go about replacing them?

Ahh I see.....you can knock these out from the bottom, you will need something long and hard....( )....a piece of threaded rod may do it,reach through from the bolt hole at the base of the legs, locate it on each side of the bush and give it a sharp tap, side to side motion will remove them, but finding new ones will be a problem......

ha! glad you spotted this! i did think about tapping them from underside, but wondered if there was a tool that'd make it easier.
what about these bush kits? im sure i could find ones compatible, just need to pop one out to get the size i guess..

EDIT: it also looks like i'll need to remove the black 'wipe' seal off the top. how does one do this...??? they seem pretty well set in there...??!! :?

a small blunt scredriver inserted inside the leg and lever down gently against the bush itself to prise them out....shoudnt be too hard to get out.....

If they are really hard dip the top of the legs in some really hot water and the rubber will soften a bit....make sure you buy teflon coated bushes or nylon ones as the stanchions will wear otherwise....

think they are 28.6mm or 30mm depends on the year of your fork....

Off out now any probs,pm me....

Haven't replaced bushes in a fork but I saw a bush removal tool for a Rockshox fork a while ago.
It was a metal disc the same diameter of inside of leg, with a piece cut off opposite edges to make it slightly narrower than diameter of bush so that it can pass through bush. The disc also has a slotted hole in it for long metal rod so disc can tilt as it passes through bush. The rod had a weight with hole down centre to act as a slide hammer on top end of rod.

Drop disc on rod down through bush, pull it up till it is flat under bush, then slide weight sharply upwards to remove bush.

If I was in your position I think I'd rather have a go making this tool from a bit of flat metal sheet and some screwed rod, nuts, washers and big socket to act as weight/hammer, than risk damaging inside of fork using screw-drivers or lengths of screwed rod to drift it out from below.

Edit to say I Googled this,

not exactly as I remembered it though.

Have a look at page 15 here,

It's for Rockshox but the method should be the same.

The method I gave you above works fine,I have done it dozens of times and is alot cheaper for servicing a fork that is worth 40/50 quid max......

anyway good luck.
