I've seen this frame and it's in good shape. Take off the stickers and you're good to go. Not my frame, but I checked it out locally and would be a good build project for the triple triangle crew.

Same one was on CL for a while. I called him but he seemed shady. Now the tool wants $350 for just the frame. He had the whole bike listed for $300 on CL. Somebody clued him in or somebody in Costa Mesa picked up the bike.

Definitely not slim shady. Actually a really nice guy. Definitely not an avid MTBer though.

He really didn't know what he had and I may have saved him from the CL flippers. I think his phone was blowing up from the Mako calls. The market is out of control, especially when XT thumbies are going for $130 on Ebay.

If all goes well, the majority of his parts, and now the frame, will be made available to the community. I know Ebay isn't exactly OldSchoolMTBclassifieds or RetroBIKE UK forum, but his prices should be fair.

As I initially posted, the frame is a GT lovers gem. Some of the parts are worse for the wear, but I didn't get a hard look at everything.

For the Amp fork dudes, the thing is pretty cool. It was marked, "DH" on the side of the damper. A quick call to Irvine at the Amp HQ would determine if it is either rebuildable or the steerer tube could be swapped to 1".

I know you think you are just doing the right thing but consider this, some of those callers were just guys looking for a decent bike to ride on the cheap. His $450 asking price in the later ad was perfectly fair for buyer and seller.

These people are posting ads on the internet so it is safe to assume they have the same ability to Google the bike and parts or just look on ebay to determine the value. If they are too stupid to take 5 minutes to do a little research they deserve to be taken advantage of.

I think the main thing that annoyed people was that it seemed that after each phone call the guy got, he went and upper the price on the ad.

Maybe annoyed is too strong. Personally, I found it comical. But hey, there are deals out there, and there are DEALS out there. This was in the lower mid-range as far as deals go, especially when there are $70 Ritcheys and such lurking in garages all over the world!

His price was going to go up even before I got there. Sorry you'all for screwing up a great donor bike for someone. Basically, honesty got the worse of me.
