actually if I had to pick 1 trail, it would be the boulderfield up the side of the tasman glacier near mount cook NZ. purely for the awesome views & total sence of wilderness. 7000ft scree slopes to your side, blue-white glacier below & stretching waaay into the distance. its kinda like the grand canyon, sit, look, loose 4hrs.. i'm just a sucka for a good view

The ride from the main road to the village at Mt Cook is fantastic, then there is the West Coast of NZ takes 7-10 days to cycle, and the view is fantastic all the way.

Vermont has fantastic single track, and is good for a autum tour, with the leafs changing. I went to The Wickidly Wild Wide Wheel Weekend at MT Snow, what a party !!!!

New Hampshire the area arround Mt Washington.

Penansalvania is good, they dont belive in easy climbs, all the trails went straight up. there is a nice route in the main park in Philadelphia, and allong the river. Theres also a few nice state parks arround there but watch out the parks can have a speed limit and the rangers had a speed camera (I found out the hard way and got a ticket and a $10 fine)

The Lancashire fells are good and often forgoten about.

The lakes are great.

Peaks are good, There is a loop I used to do around Win Hill and Lady Bower.

I could go on . . . . .

ashamed to say it did all that in a bus!

mind you the first time I ever rode a mountain bike was in New Zealand and it was 1982

I get to go and play in Colorado (Breckenridge, Aspen, Crested Butte and Durango) and Moab each summer.

I've done that western s.island trip as well. very cool. espically the helicopter trip to the top of a glacier (forget which 1!, have to dig out the old map) & back down again.
I love the lakes, propper lumpy mountains :D

best place to ride

Aside from all the great places to ride in my neighborhood-Mt. Tam, Repack, etc.-an amazing place to ride in Northern California is the Flume trail at Lake Tahoe, a ride 2000 feet above the 6200 foot Lake with the coolest views of the Sierras you can imagine!

Well my home turf (Cornwall and now Plymouth) & around the Cairngorm National Park has some sweet single track.

Oh and Bothy Bikes are good chaps, very helpful.

I think it is, the name rings a bell. Never done it myself, would love to though, it looked awsome when I watched it BITD on Eurosport and David Baker won 8)
