Yay! Another balls up from everyone's favourite courier firm!

"Good afternoon, you're through to xxxxx, how can I help?"

"I'd like to track a delivery which I'm expecting please"

"Certainly, can I have the consignment number please?"

Ooh, it's all going well so far :) So, I give them the consignment number, and confirm my name and delivery address...

"Ah yes Mr xxxxx, I can see that the parcel is at your local delivery depot"

"OK, it should be out for delivery today though?"

"It was scanned into the Reading depot this morning"

"Wait a second, did you say Reading? That's not my local depot. I live in South Wales!"

"Yes, local depot Reading"

"READING IS IN THE SOUTH OF ENGLAND. I LIVE IN SOUTH WALES. IT IS NOT MY LOCAL DEPOT. MY LOCAL DEPOT IS NANTGARW"

"Let me just check something Mr xxxxx, please hold the line"

................Here we go................

"Hi Mr xxxxx, thanks for holding, there was a delay with the parcel, and it is at the Reading depot"

"I know that, you told me before you put me on hold. Can you tell me why it wasn't scanned in to the Reading depot until the day after it was collected please? "

"I don't know"

"Brilliant, so what happens now?"

"It will be re-routed to the Nantgarw depot tonight, and might be out for delivery tomorrow"

"Might be out for delivery?"

"Yes, we can't guarantee that it will be out for delivery, as there may be another delay"

....*swears at Yodel, puts down phone*...

The Yodel circus rolls on..!

Thats where your parcel is ^.
Id suggest calling them and asking to speak to jimmy the (parcel) juggler, or clarence (the sorting office) clown.

I bet if you called the reading depot, they'd say 'what parcel?'.

Dude, stop using Yodel! If it were me, I would request that the parcel be sent via TNT or City Link from the seller to get a decent service, even if that meant I had to fess up a few more pounds for it!

In fact, its thanks to you that the recent frame I sold went via City Link, even though they were about twice the price of Yodel! I would rather spend an extra £8 to know it got there than chance having to refund for a damaged parcel and chance it 8)

That pic looks like a section from a Where's Wally picture, non?

I didn't even think to ask the seller to use another company if I'm honest.

A quick update though (this gets better):

The tracking information shows that it was "re-routed to a different courier" this morning, then "out for delivery" later this morning, then "unable to locate" at about 2pm..!

Yodel have delivered about 100 things to me here and there's a great big brass plaque on the bloody wall outside the office stating what number it is. HOW in the absolute feck can they not find it! Penarth isn't exactly central London, and Stanwell Road (where my office is) is right off the main roundabout in the middle.

FFS!!!

Blimey. They are excelling themselves this time mate!

There just isnt enough facepalms to signify the madness

Where's Wally? There's a whole bunch of them working for a certain parcel firm based on the OP's experiences. ;)

That phone call to their office sounds a painful episode; I've had the odd frustrating run-in with BT Customer Services and some past incompetence from British Gas, but nothing on the scale of that.

I would recommend that everyone sends at least one package using Yodel, the more important the better.

That way, it'll make people realise that all of the other courier companies are just SO MUCH BETTER (yes, even Herpes (sp) )!

I've now come to the conclusion that the Yokel delivery driver who has been "attempting" to deliver to me is either:

a) Blind
b) Mute
c) Illiterate
d) A Chimp
e) A combination of any or all of the above

Option 'e' is the most likely, as the driver had my mobile number to contact me in case of any problems, and my office is based on one of the main roads which is slap bang in the centre of Penarth, with a great big brass plaque on the gatepost outside, indicating that it's "2 Stanwell Road"... All he had to do was either ring me or wind his window down and, heaven forbid, ASK SOMEBODY... But no, he preferred to bimble back to the depot with it and say he couldn't find A MASSIVE RED BRICK NHS BUILDING IN THE CENTRE OF TOWN.

Goon...
