I might actually give that a go. I think there's a local courier firm down the other end of town.. I'll give them a ring to see if they'll collect or whether I have to take it down to them..

I use a little firm in Bridgend, who will pick up parcels without me in attendance if needed. All done on trust, and they have never failed. They have picked up and delivered a Litespeed from mine, and got it to Hungary within 28hrs for £20. Also, a (very heavy) Sonor Designer drumkit to Spain in 24hrs for £45.
