Hey fellow Retro Bikers, I’m ready to ask Lee Cooper to make my BOI fork. Just to confirm, my Yo Eddy frame is an early 1998, which I believe is suspension corrected for a 65mm fork (?, sadly, I don’t have access to a 1998 catalogue). I now have the correct canti bosses (thanks Danson), the correct Campagnolo dropouts (thanks Lee) and the correct fork rake at 1.5 inch.
Now for the A - C of the new fork. Like I’ve said the serial number dates it as an early 1998 Yo Eddy Team frame. The frame’s head tube is 121mm (now powder coated). Remembering M-Power’s excellent post (thanks), what length A - C should I ask Lee to build? Should it be 425mm or longer say a length between 425-440mm or 440mm? All/any help gratefully received. Peace and love, H.

I would go with 425mm. Not any longer.

440mm sounds about right, but maybe a little long, since it would probably have been specced with either a 63mm SID Race at 435mm, or a SID 80mm at 451mm, both unsagged.
So respectively 422 and 435mm sagged.

If you have the frame geometry spec available, you should be able to estimate the spec fork length by mocking up the assembled position with a pair of wheels.

Stick a rear wheel with tyre in, rotate the frame until the seat tube is 72deg or the head tube is 71deg, or 11 7/8" BB height (1996 spec, can't find 1998 specifically).
Then measure height of the bottom end of the head tube to the axle of a loose front wheel placed in around the right position.
Don't forget to deduct around 13mm for a lower headset cup.

All the best,

All the best,

A Yo or any XC bike in the late 90s would have a Judy 2.5in or Bomber 3in travel. 425mm A-C of sagged fork.
Vicious or Salsa forks made especifically for these bikes had 425mm of a-c length.
