yeh, i reckon thats the way forward, you've already got the original front end. just rebuild it as it was & it'll be sweet

Would not surprise me. It was purchased in 1991. One of the first batch to the UK IIRC. It would not be surprising if it was made towards the end of 1990 & stored until a batch were sent to the UK.
Same with cars. My 1995 RS2 was made in the middle of 1994 !!
