WTF is wrong with people?

I take pride in my car. It's old but properly immaculate - machine polished, zero rust, waxed and until recently, every panel was 100% straight.

And someone has dented and scratched up the wing within the last week.

And since it's last wash, last weekend, it's only been parked at home, or at work, so this happened at work, by someone that I know, who knows I take care of my car, and they've thought to avoid telling me.

And, because of the way we have to park (nose in, in angled bays) and the location of the damage (passengers side wing) there's no way they didn't know, as they'd have taken the door with it if it'd carried on.

Did I mention that I had £500 of paint on that wing and door less than 12 months ago?

Today, I am hating people.

Society is dead.

Re:

People are turds.

I reversed in to my neighbours sons car after he once again left it directly across my drive. It was early and I was going to work so I thought I'd go round later. Upon inspection of my car there was no damage but when I got home I could see his door was quite badly damaged. I could have said nothing as no one saw me and there was no sign I had done it but I thought about how furious I would be if that happened to me so went round and admitted it. Cost me my no claims but not my conscience.

First week I had my brand new car back in 2014 someone put a beaut of a door dent in the rear quarter, hard enough to know they'd done it. Obviously they said nothing.

Turds.

. . . so this happened at work . . .

Bummer!

No CCTV, I suppose. Anyone with scratches to their driver's side front bumper/wing area? Or could they have tried reversing in?

Drags you down doesn’t it? They’ll get bad karma...

Re:

Decent people are few and far between these days- how hand-wringingly middle class of me. We are, as a culture, becoming increasingly self-absorbed and isolationist. We only have ourselves to blame

Re:

Some are good, some bad, some indifferent. Unfortunately because values are subjective not all people are on the same wavelength

I have suffered this twice recently.

Once in a care home car park, someone turned round, and took out my N/S indicator, headlight lens, and front bumper. They would have felt the impact.

And once outside my house, someone took out/ kicked out my N/S door mirror, inc damaging the mounting plate.

Bastards.

You answered your own question: bastards indeed. No CCTV in the car park I suppose?* Also is it possible the mirror was damaged at the same time then fell out/off later?

When I lock up my bike outside a supermarket I try to make sure it is covered by a camera, regardless of whether that is at the official bike stands or not and close as possible to the entrance, though no doubt whoever does finally nick it will be wearing a hoodie...
