I've got an old vertical dropout frame that I've singlespeeded, but cannot get the chain tight enough, and my home made tensioner failed 
It can't be BB or mech hanger mounted, which is proving to be a major hassle. Only suitable one I've found is the Gusset Bachelor, but I don't have the cash in Paypal at the moment :?
