This all makes me feel slightly better about my OCD ish need to go and check if I shut the front door or indeed the bathroom window or the back gate etc etc I seem to need to check these things more if I am in a rush!

Go to yer kitchen window just now, for instance- can you see a slumped shape by the fence, maybe a slight glint as if from binoculars?

i live in a tenement close in glasgow 12 flats shared entry,on more than 1 occasion i've left my orange clockwork£1500 build] outside my door all night and its visible from the road AND theres no security entry,my heart fair leaps in my chest when i get up and realize i've left it outside again .
in fact i've done it about 6 times,thank god i sold it
