Work or the lack of it......

Hmmmm.....I feel for you, i really do, me and the wife moved from Wales last year to gain better employment, cos we kept being made redundant there, it's still better here, but we are now experiencing similar probs due to streamlining at my work and she's only getting 1-2 days as a supply teacher at the moment after her last job....

.....life's tough when one minute your looking forward with positive plans for the future ,the next minute it can all seem as if it's coming apart due to work drying up :roll: .....

.....we have a long term plan (wife nearly qualified teacher) (me train in social care) to move abroad for my wife to teach there..........if it weren't for that 'real' possible goal ahead of us...........think we'd have given up long ago.............got to have a goal or believe in something that is actually achievable .....

....this peoples having to move all over europe finding work / better life style thing (brits inc) is really upsetting economies and cultures too.

Yeah know what you mean . Girlfriend said she didn't want to be with me any more at christmas , the day after we signed all the paperwork to buy a house . Pretty gutting but after a lot of thought I can do without the £160k debt over 35 years and THERE ARE OTHER GIRLS

Next week I will be moving into a nice small flat a rideable distance from work and I'm excited to start living again .

The costs are going to be a struggle for a while but the long term plan is to find a bit of land and live in a shipping container

To fund that ( the 40ft container and living in it wouldn't be very costly , it's the finding somewhere to put it that's the hard part ) I plan on buying a van and kitting it out for stealth living

A few years ago one of the guys lived in a caravan at work for a while and we are getting showers soon too . My only worry is I like a daily shower and don't really want to " live at work " . I could stay there most days but it would get depressing living at the other end of the carpark to where I spend all day . I can join a gym and use their facilities but it might get obvious if I'm there every day There's that and the broadband issue , mobile seems crap and costly I could get around the permanent address by paying for a room in a lodging , which will give me an excuse when I get a knock at the window in the middle of the night " hello officer , oh I'm just staying away for a bit and riding my bikes "

What I do will never make me monetary rich but it offers a good quality of life . I see little point paying for a an overpriced house in a crap town where I don't spend any of my time . I'd rather spend the money living a fun life spending time with family and friends ( most of which are in the south , I'm not )

Perry....i used to know a guy who lived in a van for most of his life..........he did ok......

.....like most things in life the ....' change is the hardest part '...of it

....once we get used to something new we adapt to our new circumstances.......spose that's why humans have been so successful over time.

I want to get back to a simple life again, fed up of everyones stresses and mine..........if this country was warmer i'd live in a tent !

Cool , I wouldn't have considered it if I didn't have access to the interweb and could see that many people do do it and live a very fulfilling life .

I've always tried to live a simple life with as little stuff as possible . Most is bikes and mags , I can give the mags to mates and I only need a few bikes .

Live in the now and life is simple in itself . The past can't be changed and the future is distant .

Something we can all relate to is the owning of old bikes and parts . I , like many here own certain stuff because we have either had it a long time or it's something we wanted and now we have it don't want to let it go . For instance I own a 2nd frame on the idea that it might one day be the only one left . Holding onto a past that's gone for a future that might not happen . In the now it's surplus to requirements and takes up space . It could easily go , once I have fully accepted the idea . Of course it's not always as simple as that though .

Is the Mercedes vito any good ? the vw transporter has a lot of scene tax and the transit is sadly the " pikeys choice "

In about 1990 i gave all my stuff away and ran of to join a religious cult........it was a very liberating thing to do at the time.........living in the now is good, but be careful you still end up living in reality too.

I'm a strong ' believer' in ........we can live and have morals without religious interventions...........i was into it for 7 years and it's quite tuff getting back to reality afterwards .......now a member of the 'Bright society' (read common sence regarding religion)....though they can waffle.

...I don't object to spirituality as such, but believe all mystery CAN be explained by science given enough time and the right conditions and resourses to study.

That said, the Earth is only little , so there could be some very strange things in the universe(s).....dimensions.....my belly button !

I know some use gumtree for bikes but as a job website I find it better than jobcentre plus
