Discs on a cruiser

Bloody ruined :x

it was really a tart up and tidy up was all i had planned, have a few racing bike calipers vintage dura ace etc loaded in the sniper, though not even sure if they fit, i know nothing about the bike. you see, wheels look well rusty, and heavy chromed steel things are they 26 inch, so new wheels may be on the agenda.

big cream tyres, big comfy cream seat and white grips and cables and chain, and everything else shiny, upgrade levers and brakes really , see whats what with chainset, look heavy and basic hoping the frame needs limited work, but then i have always loved the breezer type two tone diamond paint job. and i always end up doing more than first planned.

thoughts advice experiences greatly appreciated, like anyone know make, quality, i would say its quite modern cashing in on the retro cruiser thing

hopefully will be able to pick up today or tomorrow so will know more.

I was drawn to it for a while and cant beleive it went so cheap.

When i was looking to buy one used they all seemed to go for around 50 quid minimum. That's why i decided to build one myself (and ended up spending that just on the tyres. Best laid plans and all that....)

You are correct-wheels will be 26 inch. If you are changing them anyway have you thought about going for coaster brakes?

Schwable do a range of cruiser tyres including the 2.35 baloon that is the fat frank available in brown, cream and black. They also do a really nice redwall but only whitewalls in 24 sadly.

If you are doing it on a budget and are open to suggestion on grip and saddle choice, halfords are doing faux brown leather brooks style saddle for about 20 quid and matching grips for under a tenner.

Bottom bracket looks like a bmx type. I replaced mine with a 3 piece- there are some really cool designs out there. I really wanted to put a profile in but they are fetching big money. Other option is some dmr cups that reduce the shell size and allow you to run a standard bottom bracket. But that's cheating.

Like you i'm a fan of the breezer style paint. The only think stopping me is the knowledge i'll probably balls it up.

I think the only other thing i'd consider changing is the bar. Might just be the angle and height but it looks a little odd to my morning eyes

Keep us posted.

i think we will be in touch a bit over the next few weeks Lewis, lol. most likely i will sell it on but who knows, i live close to a bohemian studenty area and there may be a quick buck to be made if i dont spend too much

i do like the idea of the brooks big fat ass saddle now and brown grips with white and silver everything else, you found any reasonably priced deed brakes , i take it racing bike brakes which are pretty and abundant are not gonna do it .

I had a pedal back coaster brake on one of my BMX BITD, and it got on my tits tell you the truth and i think some nice big shiny crisp brake calipers will look nice, like a dura ace but with long arms is what i need

i am not too sure on the brake front. if you are thinking of selling i'd just clean it up and sell it as it is. you'll easily get £50 for in. pop it back on ebay with postage.

trouble is you coukld easily spend £50 on it to make it look cool fopr it only to fetch £70

anyway, here's some inspiration, and the inspiration for my build...

i'm not sure on your brakes by the way.

do feel free to pm me if you need any help although i'm no expert.

It looks similar to mine, the frame was marketed as a Raleigh for a while.

If it is the same it takes a standard 68mm BB, but as mine takes cantis, I can't be sure:
