Thinking of selling my Bontrager Privateer , which was subject to a bare metal re-spray and rebuild in September 2018. I've done about 200 miles on it since it was refurbished.

Its a lovely bike, but I have another privateer that's used for shopping duties and this one is rarely used now.

Rockshox Judy's sold - £120
Bike withdrawn from sale

Full build thread here:

Spec is

* Privateer Frame, 1" headtube + original rigid fork - powder coated in Ruby Red with "contour line" decals from Gil.
* Rockshox Judy with correct Bontrager crown - elastomers in decent nick + spare NOS springs
* Mavic rims on LX hubs
* New thomson seatpost
* LX cantilevers + new koolstop pads
* LX front mech
* XT rear mech + rollamajig
* XT M737 shifter/lever combo
* modern s-works ground control tyres (ace)
* NOS chain suck plate.
* original bar, stem , saddle and tange headset

Ideally I'd like this to go as a full package as I spent a lot of time sourcing the rockshox to go with the bike and it would be shame to split the original rigid frame and fork.

more detailed pictures on request - but there are loads in the build thread.

Re: 1996 Bontrager Privateer

Lovely bike!

On the build thread it says 17"-Large

Confused isn't 17" usually roughly a medium at best?

And the pics here loo bigger frame than these sizes.

I'd really love to buy just the frame tbh, but I agree it truly would be a shame to break it all up.

Re: 1996 Bontrager Privateer - large / 17"

I thought this might be the case. Similar to Klein crazy sizes

Visually it's definitely bigger than other,17" frames.

Open to selling the 1999 one instead if anyone is interested in more "functional" privateer :)
