Triumph Traffic Master

Hellobro

Dirt Disciple
Recently acquired a triumph traffic master! I have been eyeing up one of these small shopper bikes for a while now and was really glad when one appeared for sale locally on gumtree. After only a short ride around the block I have to say these bikes are extremely comfortable. It needs quite a bit of love! The tyres are shot and the seat needs replacing but everything is working as it should. I’ve re-greased the stem/bearings and removed the mud guards. I’ve been looking at the three speed hub and wondering how difficult that would be to take apart, clean & re-grease but after looking online some people are suggesting just to add more grease through the hole located on the hub? Is that ok? I’ve got a list of goodies ordered and I’m looking forward to resurrecting this unloved bike. Any other shopper owners on here? Also the wheels looks quite rusty! When the new tyres arrive I’m going to give the rims a good looking over but do they look safe. Thanks

It isn’t too difficult. I followed this guy’s video.

I think it was him. I remember fingerless gloves. Grease bungs up the pawls. I used old style diff oil. I even managed to replace a pawl spring. They are fascinating things.
Give the rims a good prod with something metal. That’ll give you a clue. Alloy rims would make it more useable?

I would like to take it apart and do it properly so I appreciate the video! I will watch it and hopefully learn a thing or two. So if it’s just surface rust they will be usable for the time being.

What’s the Benefits of alloy rims?

Weight, braking, less rust bustin'!

Looks a great bike - have fun!

Front wheel has been removed and cleaned/re-greased. Awaiting the arrival of the new inner tube & tyres. Looking at the rim except for the surface rust it does look structurally sound which is good. I will look to replacing the rim for an alloy one in the future👍
