Name rings a bell from my early teens LOL

At that time some riders just stuck their names on the bike in place of the makers decals. Sandy Gilchrist did just that for his road bikes.

Willi had a frame building business in the 80's which was rather peripatetic. In the space of a short time he was in Liverpool, Newbury and Bognor (see Edit). Mike Mullett worked for him at Newbury and then took the business over when Willi moved. I have adverts in Cyclings in '82 which have all addresses in them.

He was a top TT'er on Merseyside and beyond in the 60's and 70's.

EDIT - he moved from Newbury to Redlynch near Salisbury NOT Bognor. 3 different addresses in 1982. He also 'came back' into competition and rode very well.

Blimey Old Ned I'm a decade or two out :)

I was thinking about the very Early 70's when he was riding and I assumed it was a frame from that era...........if so I was tempted to suggest it was a Condor :)

Here's the man himself travelling at speed in the 1968 25 Champs on the Northwich by-pass J32 course.

Riding a Harry Quinn.

I had a cheap camera in those days.

As far as I know Willi is very much alive and in recent years has been performing at a high level in veterans road racing with the LVRC.

Willi moore

Willi won a bronze medal at the 72 Olympics , was in the team pursuit squad..
Remember being in Harry Quinns on day seeing about my cross bikes, and asked Harry what was the frame he was building in the jig..
He said it was Willi Moore's for the Olympics pursuit..

Nice snippet of info ....... :)

I was 12 in 1972 and a bit of a bike freak....but don't recall a Harry Quinn in the line up at the olympics... I wonder what it was badged as ?

ok thanks for all the help , have now added link that hopefully works to first posting .

would like to try and work out who makers was , i read about a connection with the brothers Soens who did make frames , its quite unusual only having 1 boss for gear lever although looking at it now it has had a 2 lever set up on it somewhere in the past .
