will Campag braze-on levers fit this Simplex boss..?

as above

i'm looking to replace the black plastic levers on my Simplex DT friction shifters with metal levers

have difficulty finding them as a separate item, but plenty of Campag levers

[other than paying £35 for a set of Simplex Retroshifters - which maybe the better choice.!.]

anyway

thanks

It should be a straaing swap, you need to remove all the bits shown in your picture first

hi

that's what puzzles me; as here is the Campag boss and it has flats on the barrel [ to take the Campag locking plate..? ]

No harm in borrowing some levers and 'test fitting' them on the Simplex braze on boss's.

an excellent idea

if you have some -- shall i PM my address ..? :D

have since ascertained the Campag 'system' used a cylindrical boss on the downtube - as the Simplex

BUT... the Campag has 2 flats on the cylinder boss which locks a washer into place thus preventing the lever rotating anti-clockwise passed 10o/clock [ie in line with the downtube ]
.

HTH somebody in the future..john

RESULT FOR A FIVER....... :D

after some advice - and a look at some parts lists - decided to take a shot at this on eBay for £5..............only bidder...wonder why..!

after a clean - and swopping components - resetting the tab to position the levers --
putting the levers on the correct sides......
eg; the ''band'' screws are a diff thread to the existing 'braze-on'

well pleased

Nice result............I wonder if the seller knew they were the wrong way round for the photo :)
